New marina brings businesses, homes to New Smyrna Beach

From News 13:

The City of New Smyrna Beach has a big development under construction and city leaders say it’s the biggest project of its kind in at least 20 years.

Two Volusia County brothers are building a brand new marina with a fish store, restaurant and Tiki bar and 21 single-family homes right on the New Smyrna Beach Intracoastal Waterway. It is simply called: New Smyrna Marina.

The marina opened in April and construction continues on the property. City leaders are excited about the big economic boost the new marina will bring to the county. They are expecting lots of tourism dollars to come in through the marina.

The two brothers from Daytona Beach, Tim and Todd Phillips, bought the land and started with the marina but the plans really became a hobby. The brothers added a fish store, again keeping it simple: The Fishing Store, then a restaurant and tiki bar: Outriggers Tiki Bar and Grill. They are now building 21 “Key West” style single-family homes right on the water. The housing development is being called The Village at New Smyrna Marina.
